It’s back by popular demand, the SMTBE 2018 Lake District All-Mountain Adventure

After an amazing trip in 2017, we return to the Lake District this year to indulge in a long weekend filled with more amazing riding than you can shake a stick at. I’m getting excited just thinking about it!

Friday 1st June – Leave Swindon in the morning and travel north to Ambleside YHA.

After meeting your guide Charley and checking into your accommodation, we will embark upon a late afternoon gentle yet classic ‘leg stretcher’ from the door. This will be a 2-3 hour ride taking in some fine local trails, a perfect way to put the long drive behind you and to ease into the weekend’s mountain bike adventure! Venturing into Ambleside town in the evening we will fuel ourselves for tomorrows ride, with some good quality local food and beverages.

Saturday 2nd June – Ambleside to Keswick

This is a full day travelling through some of the Lake District’s finest scenery, providing a journey to remember through the heart of the fells. This ride has it all from technical rocky and rooty trails to ‘alpine’ smooth switchback mountain pass trails, a truly classic day out.

Our support vehicle will be on hand to carry our overnight bags, as well as providing snacks, refreshments and a picnic lunch en route.

Our arrival in Keswick just so happens to be when the legendary Keswick Beer Festival is in town, where we can soak up the atmosphere before turning in for the evening at the Keswick YHA.

Sunday 3rd June

Sunday’s objective is to make our way back to Ambleside, where we roughly retrace our steps, firstly on new trails down through Borrowdale, and then back over Stake pass. Although we have just been here heading north, riding south towards Langdale is totally different experience and a must do. Today won’t be as long a day as Saturday……we will end our ride for a well-earned beer at the famous  Old Dungeon Ghyll pub in Langdale. A short shuttle in a minibus with trailer will take us back to our vehicles, which will then take us another short distance to our cottage in Coniston where we will stay for the final two nights.

Monday 4th June

A classic loop from Coniston taking in a lap of Caw Fell and finishing over Walna Scar road.

This is another day which will live long in the memory bank, ribbons of singletrack through ancient woodlands, boulder-strewn technical test pieces and flat out wide mountain track. Descending all the way back to Coniston we can proceed to the end of trip celebrations!

Tuesday 5th June

Optional morning ride and travel home day.

COST

£500 per person

Max spaces: 8

£100 deposit to be paid as soon as possible.
