SMTBE run a program called “Get into MTB”, designed to get people mountain biking. You might not have ridden since you were a child, or ride the road regularly and be curious about mountain biking, or be coming back to mountain biking after a break. If so, we have articles and events designed to help you find out about mountain biking and actually get you on a mountain bike. These are also perfect for building up skills and fitness if you’ve not been on a mountain bike for some time.
Below is the calendar for “Get into MTB” events. All of these will be less than 15 miles (generally 10 miles).
This a very relaxed ride, at an easy pace, with lots of opportunities to develop and practice skills. Everyone is welcome and this is a great introductory ride if you’re just starting or coming back to mountain biking – just bear in mind at this time of year the whole ride is in the dark though.
We will do some skills demonstrations and practice, using the features of the trail. We may also venture up Ladder Lane for a bit of root and faster descending practice, or over to the pump track at Wroughton if it’s a muddy one.
You must bring a helmet and lights too.
Meet in the Croft car park for a 5.45pm start.
