MTB Wellness

We’ve had lots of requests for starter rides recently and given we’re in RED january, we’ve decided to do something to fit in with that.

So, MTB Wellness. There are many benefits that mountain biking bring – both physical and mental, but getting started can be a little daunting. Whether you’re nervous about exercising, cycling or don’t really know where to start with cycling off road, hopefully we can help get you going.

We will be doing a series of rides, which will all be short with gentle inclines (no big hills or miles), all led by qualified ride leaders who can offer support and advice along the with.

All inclusive Tuesday short ride

Next week’s Tuesday Short Ride is a special short ride and we will be leading a ride that will include parents and children under 18. This ride will be about an hour and a half and children must be capable of riding 20-25k and be confident riding up hills and off road. We will be going up onto the Ridgeway, so this is a great chance for those that have been to Croft to go for a longer ride up into the hills.

This Weeks Rides

We have another busy one for you again this week with 5 planned club rides.

On Tuesday morning Joe Cox will lead a loop out to Shaw Forest from the Bayberry @ 11am
this ride is open to all abilities and will be at a leisurely pace to suit.

Dave Bates will then take over for the Tuesday evening ride out onto the Ridgeway @19:00. This week will see the first attempt through Totterdown Woods since the beginning of last Autumn………I would expect some mud  🙂

On Wednesday Adrian Rogers will host the “After Work Session” at the Croft Trail from 17:45
This is a good session to build fitness and practice some of the trail features.

Ian Plummer will lead this week’s Thursday Night Social and will be heading out from the Tawny Owl @19:00.
The Thursday Nigh Social is an all abilities everyone welcome social ride around the railway lines and cycle paths of Swindon.

To round up the week we have a guest ride lead from Robert Wine. The plan is for Robert to show us some of his local trails in and around the Chilten Hills.

For more info on any of this week’s rides, check out the comments on this post, or visit the clubs events page.
Hope to see you all out and about!! 👍
