Starting at the Wanborough Village Hall at 10.30am, we will take the back Road to Covingham. We will then go across the fly over towards South Marston where we will take the country lanes and some off road routes to Nightingale woods. After a quick whizz round the woods and a short stop we will head back to Wanborough along the same route as we came. We will then finish by having a drink in the pub!!!
This route is around 12 miles, suitable for hybrid bikes with off road tyres or mountain bikes.
It’s perfect for beginners and novice riders, a truly lovely social ride for everyone.
Hope to see you on Sunday Ladies 😀
We will start at Waitrose car park in Wichelstowe, then head along the old railway path to old town, passing Croft trail along the way for a lap or 2 if you fancy it, before heading back Waitrose. This will be a gentle ride , with the option of the Croft trail for more a more technical ride if you wish .
We aim to be back at Waitrose by 1pm.
There have been a number of requests for another beginners/novice friendly ‘Get into MTB’ ride, so we will be going for a lovely little ride around the Croft trail.
This ride is perfect for those ladies who want to experience some off road riding, but at a more gentle pace and be guided through the trail.
We will ride the blue trail and there will be plenty of chances to stop along the way to practise any off road features.
The ride will only last for about an hour and a half, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day!
This week’s Ladies Morning Motivator Ride will be lead by Lindsay, as I’m unable to make it.
She is starting at Mouldon Hill car park (opposite the Tawney Owl Pub) and will be taking you on a magical mystery ride around the cycle paths in North Swindon!!
This will be a shorter ride, but a fab hour of cycling!
Thanks for all supporting and joining Lindsay for this ride.
This is our first #getintomtb event of 2018 and is aimed anyone starting off mountain biking, or coming back to it after a break.
We will being laps of the Croft Trail in Swindon, which is a great trail for starting and progressing on a mountain bikes. There will be 2 ride leaders with mixed and ladies only groups.
Club coach (and maintenance instructor) Gaz will be there to run through the M check, so you can check your bike is ready for the trail before setting off. We will then take you round the trail and point out some of the features along the way. Don’t worry, everything is optional, but we will be there to encourage you 🙂
Please bring a helmet and suitable clothing (if it’s raining you will need waterproofs).
We will also be holding a “Questions Amnesty” where you can ask anything you always wanted to know about mountain biking, but were afraid to ask, anonymously. Ask your questions here.
This a very relaxed ride, at an easy pace, with lots of opportunities to develop and practice skills. Everyone is welcome and this is a great introductory ride if you’re just starting or coming back to mountain biking.
This week we’re going to do some skills demonstrations and practice, using the features of the trail. We’ll cover the basics you’ll need for tackling technical terrain – front wheel lifts, unweighting the back well, climbing and descending safely.
You must bring a helmet, but you don’t need lights, yet.
Also thoroughly recommend insect repellent!
Meet in the Croft car park at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm start
Ashton Court is home to the Nova Trail, a purpose built blue-graded trail that winds it’s way around the estate. At only 4 miles long and with only short sections of climbing it’s the perfect place to try a proper mountain bike trail. It’s recently undergone renovation and everything on the blue is rollable, there are some sections of red graded and more technical trail for those wanting to improve their skills but for those new to mountain biking or a bit nervous about getting out on the trails this an excellent place to begin.
We’ll meet by the cafe/toilets for a 10:30am start and we’ll spend the morning on the Nova Trail. We’ll stop and session bits if people want to and Adrian will be on hand to offer coaching.
After a break for lunch we can either pop over to the 2 mile long blue graded Yer Tiz trail just over the road in Leigh Woods (which also has a progressive skills loop) or head back on to the Nova Trail to perfect our skills.
There is more than one car park at Ashton Court, please make sure you head for the car park at Pedal Progression BS8 3PX, it’s through the stone archway just after the Clifton Suspension bridge. Parking costs £1.20 for the day.
Bike hire is also available at Pedal Progression – booking in advance is essential though.
