There are some great spots of riding at Swinley, but if you stick strictly to the Blue and Red trails you’ll a) miss some great off-piste stuff and b) have to churn through some really dull miles to get to the good bits!
So this ride is to show you the best bits – starting on the Blue trail, but then picking up some of the off-piste used on the recent Enduro race to connect up to the best of Red. That will take us to the bottom far east corner, where the downhill trials are as well and after a play in that area, we will take a more leisurely ride to pick up the fabulous Tank Traps section, before ending with the best of Blue to take us back to the hub. Should be 20 miles in total.
This ride contains blue and red graded trails, so bare that in mind – it’s Swinley not the Alps, but the bits of red we will be doing are definitely red grade.
See you at the entrance to the Blue trail at 10am.
A little earlier this week, aimed for those coming straight out of work, but with a second pick up too.
Meet in the Croft at 5.30 for the first lap, I will then pause at 6pm by the trail entrance again for anyone that can’t make the earlier start time – best of both 😊
You’ll still need lights I’m afraid and a helmet – those trees often jump out at you in the dark
Whilst Adrian is doing his ‘Best Bits’ at Swinley, I’ll be joining the lovely Swinley ladies ride!
These are very well organised and friendly rides, with groups for all abilities at a great trail centre.
It’s friendly and fun and the best bit of our ride is we get a glass of prosseco after!! 🍾
The rides start from the Swinley Bike Hub at 10am – you’ll need to be there a little earlier to register.
Last minute rain dodging suggests Swinley tomorrow! Still a few showers forecast, but looks the driest option overall, so if anyone wants to join us, we’re going to do our “full off piste” route.
About 15 miles, taking in the best of the Blue & Red trails, some Swinley enduro off piste sections & some forgotten, but still good, sections of trail.
Good opportunity to check out of the less well known, but hidden gems of Swinley.
Meet by the trails entrance at 10am.
Make sure you bring a helmet & probably a coat, as showers are forecast.
Tuesday’s ride with be a Ridgeway ride, route to be decided, depending on the weather, but expect chalk n puddles. Therefore the distance and speed will be wound in a little, as conditions may be tricky.
Circa 20k distance and over 2 1/2 hours.
All welcome, no one left behind.
You will need a helmet and lights – we will be out after dark.
Meet in the Bayberry Car Park at 7pm
