The big ride.
Whites Level up. Over the top to Ywal and return via Blade descent. This is an all day’r with in excess of 50km and well over 1000m of Climb.
This is an advanced level ride, being both technical and strenuous terrain. Strongly advise knee and elbow pads.
Helmet and waterproof jacket a must. Pack lights.
Would expect to be back at the ponds by 4pm
We will start at Waitrose car park in Wichelstowe, then head along the old railway path to old town, passing Croft trail along the way for a lap or 2 if you fancy it, before heading back Waitrose. This will be a gentle ride , with the option of the Croft trail for more a more technical ride if you wish .
We aim to be back at Waitrose by 1pm.
There have been a number of requests for another beginners/novice friendly ‘Get into MTB’ ride, so we will be going for a lovely little ride around the Croft trail.
This ride is perfect for those ladies who want to experience some off road riding, but at a more gentle pace and be guided through the trail.
We will ride the blue trail and there will be plenty of chances to stop along the way to practise any off road features.
The ride will only last for about an hour and a half, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day!
As Dave is off sunning himself, Lee Smith will be leading this week’s Tuesday ride. The full route to be determined depending on the weather, but expect around 35k with 400-450 metres of climbing over 2 – 2.5 hours. Mud and puddles are a given at this time of year so dress appropriately. Lid, lights and jacket required.
Gaz, our club coach, will be leading a training day at the Forest of Dean. This will be aimed at anyone who want to improve aspects of their riding, from those who want to conquer drops, to those who want to enhance their trails skills.
Gaz is a MIAS L2 qualified coach with experience in training all levels, particularly novice riders, on a variety of trails.
This will be a low-pressure ride, taking in the skills areas as well as Verderers and a few other bits. No-one will be asked to ride anything they are uncomfortable with.
Gaz’s training days traditionally end with tea and cake as well.
Meeting at the café at 10am, look out for the big bloke in the pink club shirt
2 days before Halloween, so let’s go and play in the woods – always turned out well in films 😳
This will probably be one of our last trips to Swinley of the year, so we’re going out with a bang and will ride the best the forest has to offer, taking in as much of it as I can pack into 1 loop!
I’ll be keeping the distance to about 15 miles and we’ll be doing some old favourites, best of the regular trails and some bits you might not have seen before 😉 it will be an intermediate level ride, with some technical bits, but there are walk around options for anything you don’t fancy doing – it’s all friendly fun, promise!
Meet outside the Swinley Bike Hub at 10am
(you’ll need a helmet and some knee pads are probably a good idea too)
