Sep 26 @ 5:45 pm – 7:30 pm
Wednesdays at Croft @ Croft Cycle Trail | England | United Kingdom

This a very relaxed ride, at an easy pace, with lots of opportunities to develop and practice skills. Everyone is welcome and this is a great introductory ride if you’re just starting or coming back to mountain biking.

This week we’re going to do some skills demonstrations and practice, using the features of the trail. We’ll cover the basics you’ll need for tackling technical terrain – front wheel lifts, unweighting the back well, climbing and descending safely.

You must bring a helmet, but you don’t need lights, yet.
Also thoroughly recommend insect repellent!

Meet in the Croft car park at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm start

FoD Rampage @ Pedalabikeaway | England | United Kingdom

A last minute quick session at FoD tomorrow. Intention is to ride a bunch of the trails from the Mini Enduro a couple of weeks ago. These are just over from the better known DH runs, with a very natural feel and some really steep stuff 😀Β

It will be very relaxed and I will pick the runs to suit the groupΒ

Meet outside Pedalabikeaway at 10.30amΒ

Xmas Motivator @ The Three Trees Cafe
Dec 28 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
We haven’t done a midweek motivator ride for ages, so, this isn’t one either!
But it’s close – a fairly short XC ride to release those endorphins and get you from Christmas to New Year.
Β
Starting and ending at the Three Trees Cafe, we’ll head out on the Ridgeway, up the gentler climbs to the top of Barbury Castle. Then over the top, down Smeathes Ridge, back along Smeathe’s Bottom and back home via Gypsy Lane and the old railway line.
Nothing too taxing – 19km and 195m of climbing, a couple of fun descents in there too.Β
Β
You’ll need a helmet and appropriate clothing for the weather.
Β
We’ll set off from Three Trees at 9.30am

Wednesdays After Work @ Croft Cycle Trail
We’re back! So it’s still dark and a bit cold and so I’m going to change the format a bit.
Β
We will meet in the Croft car park as usual and begin with a lap of the Croft trail (which can be skipped if you prefer), before heading off to Wroughton through Wichelstowe. This is a nice gentle flat route, to spin our legs and warm up a bit. Our destination is the pump track in Wroughton, although riding it is optional. We will then return to Croft via the bridleway.
Β
With a lap of Croft you’re looking at about 10km of flat ride – a perfect winter warm up πŸ™‚

Saturday Scenic Broad Hinton @ Bottom of Barbury Castle
Jan 19 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

I’ve found time to squeeze in another weekend Scenic ride in January, going in a different direction along the Ridgeway.

The start is at the bottom of the Barbury steep side (see map posting) setting off along the Ridgeway away from Barbury to Broad Hinton. From there we amble along the valley and a potential pub stop. Then the climb back up to the Ridgeway and the White Horse trail to Rockley. Then it’s back along the valley and up onto the ridge back to the start.

The ride will be 27km in length with 350m of climbing and some beautiful scenery.

Please see map for the start point, although you can also park at Barbury and cycle down to there if you want.

You must wear a helmet and dressed according to the conditions – it’s pretty cold out there still!

Tuesday Night Ride @ The Bayberry
Jan 22 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Tuesday Night Ride @ The Bayberry

The winter fun continues, but now with either one or two rides out from The Bayberry up onto the byways and bridleways of the Ridgeway.

We will either run a short and a long ride, or a combined medium ride, depending on riders present. This week’s ride(s) will be led by Lindsay for the short route, and Dave for the long ride. *if there are enough riders for 2 rides, we will do a combined Medium length ride

– The short ride will be a distance of approximately 25km / 15 miles and a moderate amount of climb of 200-300m. This is a blue/blue ride.

– The long ride will be a distance of approximately 35km / 20 miles and a larger amount of climb of 400-500m. This is a red/red ride.

– Or a medium ride somewhere in between.

We always aim to be back for 9.30pm

Nights have most definitely drawn in and are cold, so bring good lights, weather-appropriate clothing and a jacket. Helmets are compulsory.

Chips Β£1 for plain or Β£1.25 for cheesy, for a shared snack portion.

Thursday Social Ride @ The Jovial Monk
Jan 24 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Thursday Social Ride @ The Jovial Monk

Thursday’s ride will start from the Jovial Monk Pub on St Andrews Ridge and led by John Jefferies.

Planned ride is weather dependant. There may be a more urban ride if it’s too wet and cold. We will leave @ 7pm and head out through blunsdon, stratton & Stanton woods to south marston ind est. from there through a nice little single track to south marston. A bit of road to Nightingale woods for a lap or 2 then back to the Jovial refreshments. It may be cold and wet, so dress appropriately.

A helmet, lights and a serviceable bike required.
Nice steady pace to suit those in attendance – nobody will be left behind.
